The ten strongest teams of the moment gather in Berlin to compete in a tournament that brings together the world’s best female players
Berlin, Malaga, London. Friday, November 8, 2024. Esports organization GIANTX debuts this Saturday at 1:00 pm CET in the Valorant Game Changers Championship, the Women’s World Championship of Valorant. Held in Berlin until November 17, this tournament is the club's major event of the year. GIANTX’s players will first face MIBR, a Brazilian team, in a double-elimination format.
GIANTX’s players include Yağmur ‘Smurfette’ Gündüz, Neslişah ‘Ness’ Demir, Tina ‘Joliinaa’ Agéli, Eylül Sudem ‘Miyori’ Sarıoğlu, and Sara ‘Sarah’ Ahmed, led by Spanish coach Antonio ‘Aska’ Lozano. After three successful splits in the EMEA league, the team aims to make a mark in the world championship.
Ten teams are competing in the VCT Championship, including G2 Gozen, Shopify Rebellion (champions in 2022 and 2023, respectively), KRÜ Blaze, Falcons Vega, FlyQuest RED, MIBR, Xipto Esports, ZETA Division, and ALG. GIANTX enters the tournament in strong form, following a title win in the international Spotlight Series.
The championship follows a double-elimination format, with matches played as best-of-three, and finals as best-of-five.
Sarah, a GIANTX player, says she is ready for the match against MIBR, a team that recently defeated Team Liquid, one of the world’s best teams in the last two World Championships. “I want to test our level against them,” she says, expressing confidence in the team’s work throughout the year.
Riot Games launched the Game Changers circuit in 2021 with the goal of “creating new opportunities and enhancing exposure for women and other underrepresented genders” in esports. This program has gained considerable prestige and professionalism, and today features the most notable organizations and players in international Valorant. GIANTX already had experience in Game Changers, having participated in previous editions, and now competes in the World Championship.
In addition to Game Changers, GIANTX also competes in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), which alongside the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) and the Game Changers circuit, stands as one of the top esports competitions worldwide. GIANTX also has representation in the Superliga LVP, the premier professional gaming league in Spain.
