Backend Engineer (Python & AWS)

GIANTX is the most awarded esports club in Spain and competes in the most important leagues in the world. We have operational offices in Berlin and Málaga and multicultural teams committed to technical excellence and innovation.

We are currently building one of the most advanced League of Legends analysis systems in the world, processing millions of matches per day to deliver AI-based automated coaching through iTero Gaming.

A project with real impact on performance, scalability, and global user experience.

Your main responsibilities

  • Design, evolve, and optimise backend architectures in Python (performance, quality, concurrency).

  • Redesign and optimise large-scale data storage and processing.

  • Build and maintain robust, efficient, and scalable pipelines.

  • Integrate with external APIs and manage rate limits (e.g. Riot Games).

  • Design and implement automation, observability, and internal tooling.

  • Improve cost efficiency, resilience, and performance on AWS.

  • Actively participate in architecture decisions and technology stack choices.

Desired profile

You will be part of the backend cloud team, responsible for real-time, data-intensive systems, external API integrations, and robust, scalable pipelines.

Requirements

  • 4–5+ years of experience in modern backend development.

  • Strong experience with Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar).

  • Experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, etc.).

  • Experience with APIs, concurrency, and distributed systems.

  • Testing and best practices (pytest, unit tests, CI/CD, documentation, security).

Nice to have (not mandatory)

  • Rust, Go, or async Python.

  • Experience in gaming or data analytics.

  • Knowledge of League of Legends or the Riot ecosystem.
