Málaga. Thursday, January 22, 2026. The esports organization GIANTX takes a new strategic step in its competitive expansion with the signing of Torviv, a current World Top 8 finisher and Spain’s premier Pokémon VGC player, as part of its brand-new Pokémon section.
With a competitive career dating back to 2018, Víctor Medina 'Torviv' has established himself as a major figure on the international circuit. His track record includes a second-place finish at the 2024 Latin America International Championship, as well as runner-up spots at the Lille and Frankfurt Regionals, confirming his consistency at the highest level.
Debut in Birmingham alongside Folagor
Torviv’s competitive debut with GIANTX will take place this weekend at the Birmingham Regional, where he will compete alongside Folagor, the world’s leading Pokémon content creator and recent GIANTX signing. This event marks the first official tournament for the Giants' Pokémon division since the merger in late 2023.
The event can be followed live on the official Pokémon VGC Twitch channel, as well as on the channels of GIANTX streamers Oscarbrock and Xamork. With this addition, the club reinforces its commitment to a field where it previously had a presence with Sekiam, now returning with the ambition to achieve top-tier international success.
"I am very happy to join GIANTX, where I hope to achieve great things, and also to work alongside Folagor, who is a true reference in the community," said Torviv.
What is Pokémon VGC?
Pokémon VGC (Video Game Championships) is the official competitive circuit organized by The Pokémon Company. It features double battles with teams of six Pokémon, from which each player selects four per match. The season culminates in the World Championship, which this year takes place in August in San Francisco (USA).
